A UGC video from a typical creator costs $100 to $400 as of October 2026, and paid usage rights add 25% to 100% or more, so a $200 video with 90 days of ad use and two extra hooks comes to $400 to $500. Most professional creators charge $500 to $1,200 a video, the same range Vire gives for agency-managed UGC. AI UGC tools cost from under $2 to under $20 a video at volume.

Key takeaways

How much does a UGC creator charge per video?

A single video from a typical UGC creator costs $100 to $400, entry-level creators start around $75, and creators with proven ad results charge more. Published ranges (source dates in the table):

Creator tierTypical rate per videoSource
Offshore creator$40 to $150Vire, Sept 2026
Entry-level creatorFrom $75Vire, Sept 2026
Single video, typical creator$100 to $400Vire, Sept 2026
Marketplace average$197 per UGC campaignCollabstr via Net Influencer, Jan 2026
Median single video$175Influee, Apr 2025
Most professional creators$500 to $1,200JoinBrands, Aug 2026
Established creator$1,000 to $3,000+JoinBrands, Aug 2026

The Collabstr number is the most grounded (real transactions), but it is an average per campaign, not per video. The other ranges come from published guides (JoinBrands and Influee run UGC marketplaces, and Vire makes video hiring software), so treat them as market quotes, not audited data.

SideShift’s median is far lower, $7 to $9 a video, on a different model: creators post on their own accounts for a base fee you set plus a view bonus.

Real people still earn their price: TikTok’s internal analysis of February 2024 to January 2025 content found creator-led ads drove a 70% higher click-through rate than non-creator ads at the same CPM.

What gets added on top of the creator’s rate?

A creator’s quote usually covers the video and limited use. Budgets drift on these add-ons:

On marketplaces the math changes: JoinBrands, Insense and SideShift include usage rights in what you pay, so the usage add-on mostly applies when you hire creators directly.

A worked example: a $200 video with 90 days of paid usage (+$100 to $200) and two extra hooks ($100) costs $400 to $500, before the product you ship. That is two to two and a half times the sticker price, so put usage terms in the brief.

What do UGC platforms charge brands?

Platforms charge a monthly fee, a cut of creator payments, or both. Prices as of October 2026:

PlatformWhat you pay the platformWhat you pay creatorsWhere it’s strong
JoinBrandsFree pay-as-you-go with a 15% fee, or $99 to $499 a month with 8% to 12% feesUGC videos from $25; AI videos at $5Low minimums, small test orders, usage rights included
InsenseBrand at $500 a month billed quarterly, plus a 10% marketplace fee (20% on Trial, 7% on the $800-a-month Agency plan)The creator’s rateAgreements, licenses and payments in one place; perpetual digital usage rights
SideShiftFrom $210 a month billed annually; creator payments are separateYou set a base fee and view bonus; the median account lands at $7 to $9 a videoCreators post from their own accounts; organic and paid usage rights in every contract
BilloVideos bought as packs; optional CreativeOps subscriptionFrom $99 a video, plus your product and shippingMeasurable creator content for DTC brands and agencies

Going direct saves the fee but costs your time: sourcing, vetting, contracts, revisions and payments. Direct is fine for two videos a quarter. At 20 a month, a platform’s cut (7% to 20%, plus any monthly fee) can cost less than adding 25% to 100% for paid usage on every direct hire. More in the best UGC platforms for brands.

How much does AI UGC cost per video?

AI UGC is video made with AI in the phone-shot UGC style, from avatars reading your script to AI-made slideshows. It is sold by subscription, so the per-video cost depends on volume. Prices as of October 2026:

The sticker price leaves out two costs. The first is your time: someone still writes scripts, reviews output and posts. The second is labeling. TikTok’s ad policy says ads with substantially AI-generated content, such as fully AI imagery, an altered main subject or a cloned voice, must carry the AIGC label or a clear disclaimer, and undisclosed AI content gets ads rejected or restricted. AI UGC is strongest for testing hooks and weakest where a real person’s trust sells the product (see AI UGC vs creator UGC).

How much does agency UGC cost?

Agencies sell the whole system (strategy, briefs, creator sourcing, editing, testing), and the price reflects that.

  • Agency-managed UGC runs $500 to $1,200 per video.
  • Darkroom’s 2026 agency pricing guide (updated October 2026) puts performance creative retainers at $5,000 to $8,000 a month (15 to 25 statics, 3 to 5 video edits) and $8,000 to $12,000 (25 to 40 statics, 5 to 10 videos, UGC coordination with 3 to 5 creators).
  • Creatify Studio, Creatify’s managed service, lists itself at $100 to $200 a video against $500 to $5,000 for traditional agencies.

An agency is worth it when you need someone accountable for creative strategy and paid results and lack that judgment in-house, and poor value if you only need more raw videos to test. For what a retainer buys against a tool, see TikTok agency costs.

Which UGC option is cheapest per video?

AI tools are usually cheapest, then creator-posted videos on SideShift, then marketplace orders; professional creators and agencies cost most.

OptionTypical costWhat you’re paying for
AI UGC toolUnder $2 to under $20Volume for testing hooks
Creator-posted video (SideShift median)$7 to $9, plus a plan from $210 a monthOrganic posts on real creator accounts
Marketplace floor (JoinBrands)From $25 plus an 8% to 15% feeEntry-level creators, small test orders
Offshore, entry-level or typical creator$40 to $400A real person on camera, limited usage
Professional creator$500 to $1,200+Ad-proven delivery and on-camera skill
Agency-managed UGC$500 to $1,200Strategy, briefs, editing, testing

Add paid usage (+25% to 100% or more) to direct hires. Units also differ: a creator video is one filmed piece, while volume services price each creative or post, so compare cost per winner, not sticker price.

What is your real cost per winning creative?

Most videos don’t win, so price per video understates what a usable ad costs. Track this instead:

Cost per winning creative = total creative spend ÷ number of videos that become winners

An illustration with made-up hit rates (track your own): Brand A buys 8 creator videos at $175 each (Influee’s median), $1,400 in total, and one becomes a winner: its cost per winner is $1,400, eight times the sticker price. Brand B spends $100 testing 50 AI-made variations at about $2 each, finds 2 hooks that clearly beat the rest, then buys 4 creator videos built on those hooks at $175 each. It spends $800. If one of those 4 videos wins, its cost per winner is $800; if two win, $400, under a third of Brand A’s. Neither is guaranteed, since a hook that won a cheap test can still lose as a full ad, but every creator dollar goes to an angle with some evidence behind it.

How do you lower your cost per winning creative?

  1. Test angles before you pay for faces. Run cheap variations on organic TikTok first and let views pick the hooks; see how to test TikTok hooks before paid ads.
  2. Brief creators on winners, not blank pages.
  3. Buy hooks, not whole videos. At about $50 a hook, three new openings ($150) cost less than Influee’s $175 median video.
  4. Agree on usage before filming. Price paid use upfront, before a winning ad gives the creator a reason to raise the rate.
  5. Batch your orders. Influee lists bundle discounts of 15% to 25% for 5 or more videos, and Vire lists retainers of 6 to 12 videos a month at $1,000 to $4,000, or $83 to $667 a video.
  6. Put paid spend behind organic winners. See how to turn organic TikToks into Spark Ads.

Where does Relay fit?

Relay’s self-serve product covers the organic testing step. You paste your website (or an App Store link), Relay makes slideshows and videos inspired by formats getting views in your niche, you swipe to approve, and Relay sends each approved post to your TikTok inbox on its day. When a post does well, Relay makes new takes of it. Relay owns the posts it makes and licenses them to you while your plan is paid. Posts already live can stay up after you cancel, but boosts and Spark Ads must stop within 5 days.

As of October 2026, Relay Starter is $49 a month for 20 posts sent to your TikTok (about $2.45 per post sent), Growth is $99 a month for 60 (about $1.65) and Scale is $249 a month for 150 (about $1.66), after a first month of $25, $45 or $149. A post can be a slideshow or a video, so these are per-post figures, not per-video. On Scale, that is up to 150 posts a month in total, split between your TikTok and the creator network, where creators post your approved drafts from their own accounts.

For ads, Relay’s managed service makes hundreds of UGC ads from its network of 50,000 creators at about $5 a creative and audits your current ads. It starts with a free 15-minute call, and 5 UGC ads are on Relay. A $5 creative and a creator-filmed video with negotiated usage are different units, so confirm scope and usage on that call.

When is Relay the wrong way to buy UGC?

  • You want one named creator as the long-term face of your brand. Hire directly or use a marketplace like JoinBrands or Insense, which include content rights with what you buy.
  • You need a scripted AI avatar spokesperson ad. HeyGen, Creatify and MakeUGC are built for avatar video.
  • You need Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts publishing. Relay’s self-serve product works with TikTok only.
  • You want someone to run your media buying. A performance agency is the better buy; Relay’s self-serve plans don’t manage paid ads, and its managed service makes ad creative only.
  • You need a few high-production hero videos for a launch. A professional creator or studio at $1,000 or more a video serves you better than volume.

If your current cost per winner is a four-figure number, test angles more cheaply before you pay for faces. Paste your website at relaystudio.ai to have Relay make your brand’s TikTok posts ($0 today, 1-day trial, card required), or read how Relay handles AI UGC videos.

Questions people ask

How much does a UGC video cost in 2026?

As of October 2026, most creator UGC videos cost $100 to $400, and Collabstr’s annual report (January 2026, covering 2025) put the average UGC campaign on its platform at $197. Most professional creators charge $500 to $1,200 a video, and paid usage rights add 25% to 100% or more on top when you hire directly.

Are usage rights included in a UGC creator’s rate?

When you hire directly, usually only limited use is included in the base rate, and running the video as a paid ad typically adds 25% to 50% for 30 days and 100% or more for perpetual rights. Marketplaces such as JoinBrands, Insense and SideShift include usage rights in their pricing, so check the terms before you pay twice.

How much does AI UGC cost per video?

AI UGC costs from under $2 to under $20 a video on subscription tools as of October 2026. Creatify’s monthly plans work out to about $1.65 to $1.95 per 15-second ad, before the time you spend writing scripts and reviewing output.

Is it cheaper to use a UGC platform or hire creators directly?

Going direct avoids platform fees, which run from about 7% to 20% of creator payments as of October 2026, on top of a monthly fee on many platforms. Platforms earn that fee by sourcing creators, handling contracts and paying them, and many include usage rights in the price, which can offset the fee once you run more than a few videos a month as paid ads.

How much does it cost to have creators post UGC on their own TikTok accounts?

On SideShift, where you set a base fee and view bonus, the median account lands at $7 to $9 a video, on top of a plan from $210 a month billed annually as of October 2026. SideShift’s plans include running organic winners as paid ads, with paid usage rights written into every contract, so there is no separate fee for that. When you hire a creator directly, Spark Ad access usually costs extra, and Influee’s pricing guide suggests about 30% of the base rate per month.

What is the cheapest way to get UGC ads at volume?

Test hooks with AI-made or low-cost variations first, then pay creators only for the angles that already work. As of October 2026, Creatify works out to about $1.65 to $1.95 per 15-second AI ad, JoinBrands lists AI videos at $5, and Relay’s managed service makes hundreds of UGC ads from its creator network at about $5 a creative, starting with a free 15-minute call. A $5 creative and a creator-filmed video with negotiated usage are different units, so compare what each includes.
