TikTok content for ecommerce and DTC brands, made for you and sent to your TikTok

Relay turns your ecommerce site into a month of TikTok product slideshows and videos, then sends each one you approve to your TikTok. From $49 a month.

Updated

The TikTok content that works for ecommerce brands looks like a person showing a product, not an ad: problem-then-fix demos, ranked-list slideshows and answers to shopper questions, posted about 4 or 5 times a week, where retail engagement peaks in Hootsuite’s 2026 benchmarks. Relay makes that content for you: paste your store’s website, and it writes and designs a month of product slideshows and videos inspired by formats getting views in your niche. You swipe to approve each post, and Relay sends what you approve to your own TikTok inbox on its day.

Key takeaways

  • TikTok sells products: TikTok Shop topped $500 million in sales over the four-day 2025 Black Friday to Cyber Monday period, and affiliates posted nearly 10 million shoppable videos during the campaign (TikTok Newsroom, December 2025).
  • In retail, video is the best-performing TikTok content type, and engagement rate peaks at 4 or 5 posts a week (Hootsuite, April 2026).
  • Compliance basics: proof for every claim, real sale prices, no fake testimonials (AI-made included), clear disclosure, and AI visuals that match the real product.
  • Relay plans run from $49 to $249 a month (as of October 2026) and send 20 to 150 posts a month to your TikTok.

What works on TikTok for ecommerce and DTC brands?

People use TikTok to research products: 62% of U.S. adult TikTok users say looking at product reviews or recommendations is a reason they use it (Pew Research Center, 2024). TikTok-commissioned research says two thirds of U.S. TikTok Shop users have discovered a new brand there, and 72% of the brands they newly discovered in the past year were small businesses (TikTok Newsroom, citing GlobalData, May 2026).

Posting more often raises your odds of a breakout. In Buffer’s study of 11.4 million TikTok posts, median views stayed near 500 at every posting cadence, but the top 10% of posts climbed from about 3,700 views at one post a week to about 14,400 at 11 or more. Posting daily goes past Hootsuite’s retail engagement peak, trading some engagement per post for more shots at a winner. More on how often a brand should post on TikTok.

The opening carries the post. TikTok says 90% of ad recall impact is captured in the first six seconds (a 2020 analysis cited by TikTok for Business). So the hook names a problem, a visible result or a tension before the product appears.

Which formats and hooks suit product brands?

FormatExample hookWhere the product fits
Problem, then fix“I was replacing my phone charger every two months. Not anymore.”The fix, shown in use
Ranked list slideshow“5 things in my kitchen I’d buy again tomorrow”One item on the list, not the whole list
Save vs splurge“Where to save and where to splurge on running gear”The splurge pick, with a real reason
Pack an order with me“Packing an order for someone who ordered three of these”The product, the box and the insert
Reply to a comment“Someone asked if this fits a queen bed. Let’s check.”The answer, demonstrated
Myth vs fact“Things people get wrong about cast iron”The fact your product supports
Founder story“Why we still hand-pour every candle”The process behind the product
Gift guide slideshow“Gifts under $50 for the person who has everything”One or two picks among others

These hooks show the shape, not proven winners: you find winners by posting variations and reading the views. Ranked lists, save vs splurge, myth vs fact and gift guides work as slideshows (TikTok photo posts) with no filming. Pack-an-order, reply-to-a-comment and founder-story posts need real footage of your product and team, so plan a few filmed posts a month too. What compliance rules apply to ecommerce content on TikTok?

This is not legal advice; check your category with counsel.

  1. Have proof before you post a claim. The FTC says advertisers must have evidence to back up claims before an ad runs, and in most cases health or safety claims need “competent and reliable scientific evidence” (FTC). “Lasts twice as long” needs a test behind it.
  2. Make sale prices real. The FTC’s pricing guides treat a “was” price as a fair comparison when it is “the actual, bona fide price” the item was offered at on a regular basis for a reasonably substantial period (16 CFR 233.1), so “50% off” needs a real former price.
  3. Never fake a testimonial, AI-made or human. The FTC’s rule on reviews and testimonials, finalized in August 2024, bans testimonials that misrepresent that they come from someone who does not exist, such as AI-generated fake reviews, or from someone without real experience of the product (FTC). An AI presenter saying “I’ve used this for a month” breaks it; keep first-person reviews for real customers.
  4. Disclose paid and promotional posts. If a creator was paid or got free product, the FTC expects a hard-to-miss disclosure and warns that a platform’s disclosure tool alone may not be enough (FTC). TikTok’s help center says you must turn on the commercial content disclosure setting for any post that promotes a brand, product or service (TikTok Ads Help Center).
  5. Keep AI product visuals true to the product. TikTok Shop’s U.S. policy for Shop content bans using AI to alter a product’s size, color, material, quantity, bundle contents, features, compatibility, safety attributes or performance, and requires an AI label on content that is fully or significantly AI-made or uses synthetic faces, voices or digital humans (TikTok Shop Academy, updated September 2026). More in TikTok’s AI content rules.
  6. Use cleared music. TikTok says businesses cannot use the general music library commercially and should use its pre-cleared Commercial Music Library (TikTok Ads Help Center).
  7. Check restricted categories before paying creators. TikTok’s branded content policy bars paid or gifted creator promotions for categories including weight loss products, nicotine products, weapons and counterfeit goods.

How does Relay make TikTok content for an ecommerce brand?

  1. Paste your store’s website. Relay learns what you sell, who it’s for and how you sound, asks a few one-tap questions, then makes product slideshows and videos in your voice, inspired by formats getting views in your niche.
  2. Approve what you like. Swipe right to approve, left to pass, and edit the words first if a claim needs tightening.
  3. Relay sends, you post. Connect your TikTok once, and Relay spreads approved posts across the month, sending each one to your TikTok inbox on its day. Open the draft, add a caption if it is a video, choose who can see it, turn on the commercial content disclosure (and the AI-generated content setting if the post uses realistic AI imagery), then tap Post.
  4. Get more of what works. Every post’s views sit in one place, and when a post does well, Relay makes new takes of it. Strong posts are natural candidates to boost as Spark Ads, which you run yourself. Relay owns the posts it makes and licenses them to you while your plan is paid. Posts already live can stay up after you cancel, but boosts and Spark Ads must stop within 5 days.

Relay is part of Kinetic, which has launched 10 apps since March 2025 with organic TikTok as its primary growth driver.

Which Relay plan fits an ecommerce brand?

PlanPricePosts made / sent to TikTok a monthMonthly price ÷ posts sentGood fit for
Starter$49 a month ($25 first month)40 / 20$2.45A founder-run store testing one hero product, 4 or 5 posts a week
Growth$99 a month ($45 first month)120 / 60$1.65A DTC brand posting about twice a day across several products, up to 3 people ($80 a month each added)
Scale$249 a month ($149 first month)300 / 150$1.66Brands posting about 5 times a day or wanting the creator network, up to 5 people ($200 a month each added)

Prices are as of October 2026. On Scale, the 150 posts are split between your TikTok and the 50,000 creators in Relay’s creator network, who post approved drafts from their own accounts; a draft nobody picks up within 7 days comes back to you. Yearly billing gives two months free, and you pay $0 today on a 1-day trial (card required).

When should an ecommerce brand look beyond Relay?

  • You need Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts from the same tool. Relay’s self-serve product works with TikTok only.
  • Your TikTok plan runs on TikTok Shop affiliates and LIVE selling. TikTok Shop’s affiliate program and its LIVE shopping tools are built for that (TikTok Newsroom). Relay does not replace those programs.
  • You want one polished hero film. A production studio will do that better.
  • You want someone to run your paid ad account. Self-serve Relay doesn’t manage ad spend. Relay’s managed UGC ads service makes the ad creative; a media buyer or agency runs the account.

Questions people ask

Can Relay make TikTok content from my online store’s website?

Yes. Paste your store’s website and Relay learns what you sell, who it’s for and how you sound, then asks a few one-tap questions and makes slideshows and videos for your products inspired by formats getting views in your niche. You approve each one (or switch on Autopilot to approve for you), and Relay sends it to your TikTok inbox on its day, where you add any finishing touches and tap Post.

How many TikToks should an ecommerce brand post a week?

Start at 4 or 5 posts a week, where Hootsuite’s 2026 retail benchmarks found TikTok engagement rate peaks; Buffer’s study of 11.4 million posts found that posting more raises the odds of a breakout even though the typical post’s views stay flat. Relay’s Starter plan sends 20 posts a month to your TikTok (4 or 5 a week) and Growth sends 60 (about 2 a day).

Can I use AI-generated product content on TikTok?

Yes, with care. Label it (when you post the draft in TikTok, turn on the AI-generated content setting if the post uses realistic AI imagery), never use AI to change how the product looks or performs (TikTok Shop’s U.S. policy bans that), and never have an AI presenter claim personal experience with the product, since the FTC’s rule on reviews and testimonials bans AI-generated fake ones.

Do I need to disclose that a post on my own brand account is promotional?

Yes: TikTok requires its commercial content disclosure setting to be on when a post promotes a brand, product or service, and you turn it on in TikTok when you post each draft Relay sends to your inbox. Posts by paid or gifted creators also need a clear disclosure under FTC guidance.

Does Relay work with Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts?

Not today. Relay’s self-serve product works with TikTok only, sending posts to the TikTok accounts you connect. If you need one tool that posts to every platform, a multi-platform scheduler is the better fit.

What does Relay cost for an ecommerce brand?

As of October 2026, Starter is $49 a month ($25 first month) for 40 posts made and 20 sent to your TikTok, Growth is $99 ($45 first month) for 120 made and 60 sent, and Scale is $249 ($149 first month) for 300 made and 150 sent, split between your TikTok and Relay’s creator network. Yearly billing gives two months free, and you pay $0 today on a 1-day trial (card required).
